Danica Patrick places fourth at Las Vegas for best finish ever by a female in NASCAR national series race

LAS VEGAS ? Danica Patrick tried to keep her expectations for the Sam?s Town 300 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in her mind and not out in the open.

Patrick exceeded those expectations by recording the best finish ever by a woman in a NASCAR national stock-car series as she placed fourth Saturday afternoon on the 1.5-mile oval. The previous highest finish was a fifth by Sarah Christian in a Cup race in 1949 at Heidelberg Raceway in Pennsylvania.
