CONCORD, N.C. ? Dale Earnhardt Jr. ran out of gas while leading on the backstretch of the final lap of the Coca-Cola 600, and that was better than coming in for gas and finishing second or third Sunday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Hendrick Motorsports driver, riding a 104-race winless streak into the race, said he had no intention of second-guessing crew chief Steve Letarte over trying to stretch fuel, even if that meant walking away with a seventh-place finish instead.
